A simple game about shredding tax documents
Super Corporate Tax Evader is a free game for the Playdate handheld gaming device. It is available under a “name your own price” model, meaning players can support the developer if they wish. The game sees the player take on the role of a corporate employee who is attempting to shred tax documents before their lawyer sees them.
This game shares the same 1-bit color scheme as other Playdate games, including Billionaire’s Dilemma and Tochi. It also uses Playdate’s unusual crank control for the game's central mechanics — shredding documents.
A simple premise about tax fraud
The game's premise is that the player is a corporate employee who works for a firm and is being investigated for tax reasons. The player must shred incriminating documents so that the lawyer cannot find them. At random intervals, the lawyer will come into the room where the player is, and the player must hide the shredder before the lawyer sees it.
Straightforward controls
The only control the player needs after they're in the game is the Playdate’s crank. The player must turn the crank to shred paper. Docking and undocking the crank will hide and unhides the shedder. While these controls are simple, it is somewhat difficult to play the game using a development environment instead of a physical Playdate device.
Limited gameplay
The entirety of the gameplay is what has been described, which may not be enough to provide more than a few minutes of gameplay. The game does not have a win state, and the only goal is to shred as many documents as possible without getting caught. However, the lawyer keeps coming at you.
